Data Independence

evORElution utilises the raw block model data from any existing mine planning package in the form of an exported text file. The export can consist of an unlimited number of block model items. Re-blocking can be undertaken as part of the scheduling process. Both DXF and spreadsheet friendly files can also be generated.

Getting data into evORElution is a straight forward process.

Drill-down Capability

The evORElution advantage is that Long Term to Short Term Planning using the same dataset!

The block sequence of each schedule can be “drilled down” on  in further detail for shorter period lengths. For example blocks mined in a particular year from an annualised LOM schedule can be easily isolated and then assessed on a monthly basis to check the validity or potential variations associated with a LOM schedule. A year scheduled by month for a budget can have a month isolated and scheduled by day, or even 12 hourly depending on the block size, to allow Monthly Mine Plans to be undertaken.

Dynamic re-blocking (without averaging data) also allows different constraint sensitivities to be tested.

Precedence Control

Setting precedence controls in planning is very important and evORElution currently allows for three (3) different levels of stage precedence and will allow for more in a future release.

Heuristic Algorithms

evORElution utilises evolutionary algorithms, a process that applies the concepts of Darwinian theory, to produce a range of viable solutions. In essence evORElution starts with a population of physically correct schedules and then re-combines the “genetic make-up” of these schedules over a number of generations. Over time, the population migrates towards an optimum solution through a “survival of the fittest” process.

Pareto Perfection

Evolutionary algorithms allow for multiple objective optimisation, as objectives are usually conflicting the Pareto “trade-off” curve is developed. Schedules on the Pareto curve represent those with the best trade-off between the conflicting objectives. The planner is therefore provided with a variety of possible schedule results rather than just one or two. Consequently a number of operating scenarios can be quickly assessed and their relative merit or risk evaluated, and a higher level of decision making considerations can be used to choose a solution.

4D Visualisation and Reporting

Users of evORElution have the ability to view a schedule of blocks coloured by period and to easily generate sophisticated reports.

These reports can be applied to both block models and schedules (incl. sum, average and weighted average. It is also easy to run reports on new block models against old schedules to study the schedule impact of the new data.

All scheduling data is seamlessly transferred into Microsoft Excel, honouring the evORElution formatting
